What is the GAZT/ZATCA Portal?

The GAZT (General Authority of Zakat and Tax) Portal, now known as ZATCA (Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority), is an online platform where businesses operating in Saudi Arabia manage their tax and zakat obligations. This includes VAT registration, filing, and compliance with Saudi tax regulations. Businesses must register on the GAZT/ZATCA Portal to obtain tax certificates, file returns, and remain in good standing with the Saudi tax authorities.

GAZT/ZATCA Registration Process

1. ZATCA Account Creation:
   • The first step is to create an account on the ZATCA portal. The Commercial Registration (CR) of the company will include the ZATCA account number. This account must be registered on the government portal.
   • Once the account is created, the company must register for VAT filing.
2. Fill the Application Request:
   • After creating the ZATCA account, the next step is to complete the VAT registration application. This requires:
     • The Tax payer Identification Number (TIN)
     • Access to the phone number linked to the CR for receiving OTPs (One-Time Passwords)
   • Ensure the correct options are selected in the application form and download any required documents.
3. VAT and GAZT Certificate Issuance:
   • Once the application is submitted, a letter signed by the client must be provided. The VAT and GAZT certificates are usually issued on the same day, though in some cases, it can take up to 3 days for the certificates to be processed and made available.
